Fatawu Issahaku claims MOTM in Leicester’s narrow victory over Southampton

Premier League

Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has been named Leicester City’s Man of the Match following his outstanding display in the Foxes’ stunning 3-2 comeback victory against Southampton on Saturday.

His performance played a crucial role in turning the game around after Leicester found themselves two goals down at halftime.

Southampton took an early lead, with Cameron Archer and Joe Aribo both finding the net before the break. It seemed like the Saints were on course for a much-needed victory at St. Mary’s Stadium.

However, Issahaku’s introduction in the second half sparked Leicester’s revival. The 19-year-old set up Facundo Buonanotte’s 64th-minute goal with a perfectly timed assist, bringing Leicester back into the match.

Issahaku continued to be a menace for Southampton’s defense, creating multiple chances and maintaining relentless pressure.

Jamie Vardy then converted a penalty in the 74th minute, leveling the score for Leicester, who were benefiting from Southampton’s reduced numbers after Ryan Fraser’s red card.

In dramatic fashion, Jordan Ayew sealed the win with a clinical strike in the 98th minute, securing all three points for the Foxes. Issahaku’s game-changing impact earned him deserved praise, and he was later voted Leicester City’s Man of the Match by fans.

This performance highlights Issahaku’s growing importance in Leicester City’s lineup, further cementing his place as one of Ghana’s most promising talents.
