In a thrilling encounter at the Stade TP Mazembe, Sead Ramovic’s Young Africans (Yanga) fought valiantly to secure a last-minute point in their CAF Champions League Group A clash against hosts TP Mazembe.
Despite trailing for most of the match, Yanga salvaged a crucial draw with a dramatic equalizer in the dying seconds, thanks to Prince Dube.
Mazembe had looked set to claim all three points when Cheick Fofana, who came on as a substitute in the 35th minute, broke the deadlock in the 41st minute. His first-half goal put the hosts in control, and it seemed like the Congolese giants were destined to grab their second win in the group after a strong showing in the first half.
However, the Tanzanian side refused to give up. As the match entered its final moments, Yanga launched one last attacking effort, desperate for an equalizer. In the 94th minute, the ball found its way to Prince Dube, who coolly slotted the ball past Mazembe’s goalkeeper to level the score at 1-1, sending the visiting supporters into raptures.
With the draw, Yanga secured their first point in the group, although they remain at the bottom of Group A with three matches played.
TP Mazembe, on the other hand, earned their second point but stay in third place, still trailing leaders Al Hilal and second-placed MC Alger.
Both teams will now turn their focus to their upcoming fixtures as they continue to fight for a place in the knockout stages.
