Ghana Black Stars boss Otto Addo has avoided making any promises of a win against Sudan in the upcoming second leg of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Ghana’s third match of the qualifiers ended in a goalless draw against the Falcons at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday afternoon.
The result left the Black Stars still searching for their first win in the qualifiers, with two draws and one loss, placing them third in Group F.
As the team gears up for the return leg at the Martyrs of February Stadium on Tuesday, October 15, Addo emphasized the unpredictability of football, making it clear that he could not guarantee an outright victory for his side.
However, the 45-year-old coach expressed confidence in the team’s preparation, stating they are determined to make up for the missed chances from the first match in Accra.
“This assurance everybody is talking about, for what? This is football, and I cannot even assure. You know what I can assure? We will try our best, and I know that in the end, we’ll be rewarded. And the positive thing is, it’s still in our own hands. We have to win the next game,” he said.
“And then, if we don’t qualify, then it’s still a long way. It’s going to be very, very tough to the last match, but we will do it with this performance again. We will do it in Libya against Sudan,” Addo added.
The return leg is set to kick off at 13:00 GMT.
The Black Stars are expected to depart on Sunday for the game.
